Bernie applies the same systems at Egan Legal. Bernie uplifts Egan Legal’s clients with his warm approach and makes them feel safe and organised in our care. Bernie operates with precision in every particular detail and inspires his team to do the same everyday. Bernie enjoys high standards in service and finds anything less uninspiring. He is an attentive and organised manager overseeing Egan Legal’s administrative operations from A to Z like an eagle.

 

Ruediger Weise | Special Counsel | LL.B

Admitted to practice at the Supreme Court of Victoria and High Court of Australia

Ruedi is our consultant Special Counsel. He is an experienced litigator at Family Court and appears regularly in family law matters including parenting matters, property matters and location orders. Ruedi has decades of experience as a solicitor. He has also worked as a Manager at the Australian Taxation Office and a Manager of Compliance and Enforcement of a portfolio of the Department of Premier and Cabinet. This included conducting interviews to gather evidence and conducting search warrants. Ruedi also runs businesses and understands commercial problems well. Ruedi has a lot of time for his clients and explains everything clearly which enables them to confidently progress with their legal matters. He makes sure his clients are heard and well supported. Ruedi applies his knowledge from his investigative work at the ATO into complex property settlement matters. He has an excellent understanding of company structures, official company documents, trusts and a good relationship with numbers.

Kathleen Hyland-Egan | Solicitor | LL.B, GDAMLP

Admitted to practice at the Supreme Court of Victoria and High Court of Australia

Kathleen is an experienced litigator and negotiator and appears in all Intervention Order matters at the Magistrates’ Court of Victoria including Contested Hearings. She can appear in all hearings at the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia (FCFCOA) including Interim Defended Hearings and Final Trial. Kathleen was mentored by highly experienced and respected family law solicitor managers at PCLC. For migration matters, she can appear at the FCFCOA and Administrative Review Tribunal. Kathleen loves exploring visa options for her clients and guiding them through migration law. Previously, she was an investigator for the Australian and State Government, the last role being Senior Compliance Officer/ Appointed Inspector of a portfolio of the Department of Premier and Cabinet. She investigated corporations including shadow directors reporting directly to the Head. This included planning and executing search warrants. She also facilitated strategic work relations with law enforcement regulators such as the Australian Border Force. Kathleen finds her investigatory skills useful in discovery for intricate family law matters and statutory requests. Kathleen is caring and protective of her clients.

Sarah Egan | Lead Paralegal

Sarah is our determined and diligent Lead Paralegal who makes sure Egan Legal’s operations is run in order and on time. Sarah has over two decades of experience as Operations Manager for the family owned Australia-wide company. Prior to joining the family business, she worked as a Chef and is adept to high pressure and results. Sarah is also a well known and highly regarded championship professional show dog handler and frequent winner. She is points away from getting her basenji Aust Ch UNOMEE Tri Of Afrika ‘Glen’ the title of Grand Champion, highly sought after and coveted in the canine community. She adopts the same winning attitude to her work.

Cosmo Egan | Executive Support Lead

Cosmo is our attentive Executive Support Lead who takes care of our staff. Cosmo is friendly and intuitive with staffs’ requirements. She is always pampering the team with her positive sparkly energy. In her spare time, Cosmo enjoys spending time in nature and going to the dog park.

Andrew Egan | Trades Lead (Ex Navy)

Andrew is our Trades Lead who is ex Navy. He worked as a Marine Engineer and understands Heavy Diesel Equipment, in particular Kenworth Trucks, ships and earthmoving equipment. Andrew can drive articulated heavy vehicles safely and competently. Andrew keeps fit by running marathons with his Siberian Huskies Samuel and Jackson (often chasing them after they have escaped the backyard).

Suzanne Egan | Business Manager

Suzanne is our kind and thoughtful Business Manager who has decades of experience working in the Business Department of a school.

Joe Kim | CIMA Accountant

Joe is our CIMA Accountant. He has decades of experience as Chartered Institute of Management Accountant. He finds numbers and Excel fascinating. Joe is also fluent in Korean.
